Ever since I realised I could get pregnant and have my own baby when I grew up, I told myself I would raise my baby like my mother raised me. I knew my mother would be here by my side to
teach me how to look after a baby and it was going to be easy. Well, this is all that an innocent teenager could think of.
When I became a grown up, my girl friends started to get married and became mothers. Over the years, by listening to their parenting anecdotes, on one hand I could always feel their love to
their children are so real, intense and unconditional, I could also feel majority of them found looking after a baby so challenging and exhausting on the other, “I am prepared it is going to be
tough, but I didn’t expect……”, “…..I haven’t got uninterrupted sleeps for ages” and “well, you will know by the time you have one” are the phrases I heard from them all the time. They were all
tough ladies, some even had relatives or helpers assisting along already, and that they still felt that way left me questioning “why” in my own head.
Then I got married and started to plan to conceive, the “why” rang in my head again. And I hesitated if having my mother’s opinion and support are sufficient, not to say if my husband and I
agree to her parenting style or not.
I began to ask myself, is there anything I can prepare to avoid going through the pain my girl friends went through? I understand parenting is never easy and simple but come on it is 20th
century! There must be some solutions.
So I started to do a lot of researches on pregnancy, prenatal, and postnatal as well as various mother forums, undoubtedly online, as this is what a layman do in a modern world. I was
bombarded by tons of information, some seemed to be consolidated while some were totally content farm. After spending some time going through them, I was still not convinced I have got
the solutions yet. One day, I came across an article about how science backed baby sleep coaching assists parents to settle the baby sleeping through the night so parents are able to get rest
up overnight, that was the moment I know I have found something I have been looking for.
This eventually led me to complete a
